WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

As a Designer across one of our key cities in the NA geography, you will deliver creative work that aligns with both the City Consumer Offense and NA Brand Creative functional goals!

You are a member of the team reporting into the creative lead, working within the city consumer-led projects. The role requires a passion for art direction and graphic design, focusing on the look and feel of the brand, helping implement the overall vision. The work in the City focuses on editorial, app innovation & launches and campaigns that go full end-to-end, working from concept to implementation across all of our digital and physical channels. You will play a meaningful role in developing work that is a mix of origination for specific City projects and extending and aligning against Global/NA directives. This position requires a strong partnership with the rest of the creative team, from narrative to experience to production against all creative. You are a master executor of concepts and creative thinking, and your experiences should include photo art direction, to understanding and working against a narrative, to graphic design, communication, moving image and environmental design (where needed). The position requires a strong conceptual process that drives the work across every touchpoint. It is important to know various digital channels, working with the latest software, and the creative that clearly works into them, whilst also driving compelling innovative solutions. Designers are outstanding teammates, focused on execution, they work under the direction of the creative lead and alongside producers and narrative. You will also collaborate with agencies and other external creatives. You are passionate and connected to the creative industry – looking at the latest trends in art direction and graphic design, and technology. This ever-expanding knowledge, network and interest both inspires and drives your creative thinking.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

The work will be varied and will involve working on briefs that deliver against our city consumer direct offense. These projects will deliver to their marketing brief across all of our marketing channels.

You will work and partner with the senior designer, art director or editorial director to develop the look and feel, layout, visual language, and craft of the campaigns and have the ability to work in teams and work against other team members concepts when required. To this point, you must strive under pressure but be positively and emotionally engaged at all times. Considering this, you need to be extremely well versed in matrix navigation, multiple partner management, and be able to undertake enterprise thinking while at the same time sweat the details. You will work and contribute in different squads daily and jump across many varied projects while maintaining great communication across all of them. You are a creative specialist that is hungry for innovative thinking, working across every consumer touch point, from brand defining to member defining with full end-to-end communication.

For you, an understanding of the consumer trends is always at the forefront of your executional thinking.

You'll deliver high quality concepts and solutions at every stage of the creative process with executional excellence, attention to detail and the knowledge to drive forward.

You will communicate design concepts to various internal and external audiences and work your team to evaluate your own creative process. In addition, you'll provide ideas that influence, increase and enhance Nike Brand Creative and initiate and drive standard methodologies!

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

Your role will be part of the team that is most integral to our marketing offense, with an incredibly diverse set of partners. From creative leadership on an NA/Global level right through to day-to-day liaison with the city marketing teams, whilst working within a creative squad and partnering with the narrative team. The shape of your day-to-day leadership will vary significantly, and therefore your style and influence will have to adapt accordingly. But at all times it must be collaborative and intuitive, seeking new and innovative ways to enhance the efficiency of individual as well as collective thinking. You must multiply the opinions and expertise of those you engage with in order to apply coherent thinking that leads to new opportunities. You will partner with the production and operations team to ensure that the creative is delivered on time and to the level of quality expected at Nike.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Design or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 4 years+ creative experience in art direction and/or design, with ideally a strong focus on consumer brands.
  • Absolute respect, proactivity and deep appreciation for diversity and equality in the workplace. You must embody Nike’s culture and adopt the maxims that it stands for.
  • A proven ability to listen and mentor.
  • Proven outstanding ability to apply and perform design skills, including drawing/sketching, typography, conceptualization, color theory, use of texture, art direction, visual presentation development and layout
  • Experience directing photography (talent and product), illustration, and external agencies.
  • Working against 3D programs, Video editing and motion design software is a plus for working at Nike.
  • Advanced knowledge of the latest design computer software.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to trends influencing design in general, and in graphic design, fashion, and athletics specifically.
  • Exposure to and understanding of consumer behavior. You must have consumer knowledge in Chicago and across NA, specifically against youth culture.
  • A strong foundation of technical knowledge when it comes to digital and innovative practices.
  • Ability to distill briefs down in a way that allows you to showcase your thinking in creative ways
  • Experience of collaborating effectively with other functions, departments and external partners
  • Passion for reinventing the way we approach traditional ways of working. Not scared to challenge the past and in doing so push new creative ways of thinking and working
  • Great sense of judgment and decision-making. Emotionally intelligent with a growth mindset
  • Experience working in and passionate about sport, the sports lifestyle and the culture around it
