Role Summary:

The CMC Process Excellence Engineer has responsibility of driving product & process yield, yield improvements & achieving entitlement in process capability for the holistic Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) component manufacturing facility in Asheville.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, the CMC Process Excellence Engineer is responsible for driving & maximizing manufacturing process yield & process capability with robust manufacturing process(es) to meet and/or exceed business objectives (such as safety, yield, rate, cost, cycle, continuous improvement)
This includes both existing production process(es), products and equipment as well as New Product Introductions (NPI), maintaining & improving yield & process capabilities from transition planning to full scale / continued production, driving all aspects of process excellence.

In addition, as the CMC Process Excellence Engineer, you will:

Define strategy to maximize product & process yield & establish means / processes to drive process control
Partner with area Process Engineer(s) (PEs) to drive & enable maximum entitlement for process capability (Cpk) for all critical process and product parameters & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Partner with area PEs to drive & leverage Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (pFMEA) development, optimization, usage & driving improvements of Risk Priority Numbers (RPNs) within each process area pFMEAs
Partner with Integrated Product Team (IPT) cross-functional teams & suppliers / customer (such as Materials Applications Engineers (MAE’s), Design Engineers, Quality, etc.) to determine, understand & establish predictive means of understanding material correlation / interaction with manufacturing processes that drive and/or are impacted by yield / yield implications resulting in increased rigor & specifications / tolerances of materials / processes
Responsible for defining, support and/or driving special projects to ensure effective industrialization, yield, process & production improvements
Work boundlessly with all organizations, both hourly & non-exempt, including Cincinnati, Huntsville, Newark, Asheville, etc., in enabling effective parts / product / process industrialization and ramp yields
Work both autonomously as well as collaboratively in identifying needs, proactive support to manufacturing teams in enhancing production yield & process capability
Articulate progression of projects and/or programs to all facets of the business, including technicians, process engineers, site leadership & executive business leaders, ensuring efforts support business goals & objectives
Performs other duties as assigned / as needed to support 24x7 manufacturing processes


BS in Engineering and/or related technical field from an accredited university or college (Or Associates degree from an accredited school or institution with a minimum of 3 years progressive experience related to materials, quality, manufacturing and/or process engineering)
Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting and/or working in composite (PMC and/or CMC) design, quality, testing, analysis, specification, processing and/or manufacturing environment


Ability & willingness to support 24x7 manufacturing facility

Desired Characteristics:

Demonstrated strong mathematical, analytical, communication (written/oral) & presentation skills
Ability to differentiate & manage competing priorities
Proven history of sense of urgency in supporting production needs
CTT, EEDP, ACE, OMLP and/or other formal leadership development program graduate and/or experience in driving & delivering results
DMAIC and/or DFSS Green Belt and/or Passion for driving Continuous Process Improvement
Strong Experience driving Root Cause Analysis / Corrective Action (RCCA)
Strong Experience in data analytics and/or Data visualization
Strong Experience developing and/or driving pFMEA & Control mechanisms
Experience & understanding of measurement of process capability & passion for driving process capability entitlement
Demonstrated driver of improving yield and/or process capabilities of manufacturing processes leveraging statistical analysis and/or process control
Ability to adapt to business needs & flexibility in changing priorities
Experience in defining strategies & delivering exceptional results
Experience in influencing others / building team collaboration / acceptance
Understanding of composite materials / composite manufacturing
Strong acumen in cross functional communications & engagement
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles and/or experience
Experience in collaborative engagement in manufacturing environment & delivering results
Ability to analyze and resolve problems with sense of urgency
Ability to lead programs / projects with established project management skills
