Role synopsis

This role is responsible for the development of an investment plan for the BP company operated service station network. It will involve a high level of stakeholder engagement with areas such as Strategy, Network & Property, Facilities & Risk, Finance, Retail Operations, and Remediation Management to balance return on investment of site upgrades, end of life asset replacement and risk mitigation projects. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Asset investment strategy!

Key accountabilities

  • Contribute to the region’s financial performance by the identification, assessment and development of asset improvements which are aligned to Strategy, Market Plan, Marketing objectives and Retail Operation initiatives.
  • Creation and management of the regional Network Plan and a 5-year Project Plan.
  • Manage the Network Plan in the region, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and aligned.
  • Assessing site asset improvement opportunities, including site rebuilds, tank replacements, internal refurbishments and general site upgrades.
  • Establish and manage relationships with 3rd party planning consultants and local approving authorities.
  • Manage the end- to-end process of 3rd party planning and authority approvals to enable effective and efficient project execution.
  • Provide leadership and development of the regional Asset Optimisation team.

Essential Education


Essential experience and job requirements

  • A deep understanding of BP’s Sales & Marketing operations and proven ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly developed planning skills, tenacious and outcomes driven in order to achieve business goals with a high degree of commercial acumen and judgement.
  • Good organising ability, high levels of numeracy and analytical skills, with demonstrable attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects and take the lead in projects as required.
  • Experience in service station development, retail asset improvements, and project front end loading.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Project Management, Engineering, Town Planning or extensive commercial/property development
  • Proven leadership skills and strong ability to coach and mentor.

BP’s Fuels AsPac business operates in three distinctive retail fuels markets in Australia, New Zealand and China.
We’ve been proudly operating in Australia for almost 100 years. Here, we are the only fully integrated fuels business, with a team of 6,000 passionate people delivering quality fuels from the well to the petrol bowser. Along with our terminals, pipelines and 1,400 BP-branded retail fuel sites we are also founding participants in the North West Shelf and Browse joint ventures.
